South Toledo Golf Club is a Public 18 hole golf course located in Toledo, Ohio.
The South Toledo Golf Club was originally the south course of the Heather Downs Country Club. The course was constructed between 1925 and 1927. The course was designed by William J. Rockefeller. In 1994, Arthur Hills redesigned three holes with the new greens and lengthened the course with seven new tees added throughout the course.
Par for the course is 71. From the back tees, the course plays to 6,508 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 5,344 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 15, a par-5 that plays to 517 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 7, a par-3 that plays to 140 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 3, a 414-yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 12, a 161 yard par-3.
The courses undulating greens are well protected by 41 bunkers. The layout has several thousand trees, some over 75 years old. Five sets of tees give every golfer the challenge in length to use virtually every club in your bag.

You don't often get a chance to play golf between Christmas and New Years this far North..but not this year. It's 38 degree's, cloudy with rain coming in at noon...welcome to our diehard golf outing. This flat land track is a basic 1925 Link's type layout with a mix of open and tree-lined fairways on each side. Winter conditions have left everything a little shaggy with some patchy rough areas scattered around greens and tee boxes. With five (5) tee boxes ranging from 6,508yds /70.8 / 124 down to 4,455yd / 66.2 / 108, this Par 35/35 has some good fairway/greenside bunkering to protect Par if you miss your landing areas. Most of the greens are raised and small in size /shape, so double check landings closely.
Front 9 (3,182yd, Par 35 or 36) #2 408yd Par 4 has a stream crossing at 210yds making a tough decision on that tee shot. The #3 414yd Par 4, has water down the LH side protecting shortcuts on this Hcp 1, dogleg left, raised green with a stream in front of the green. The #4 248-1932yd hole is a Par 3 or 4 straight away hole, having you pick yardage/par. The #5 483yd Par 5 can be an easy par hole by staying short of the creek (220yd out) and advoiding the four (4) greenside sand bunkers. Staying below hole on this tipped green will make an easy 2 putt par.
Back 9 (3,326yd, Par 35) starts right out with a 392yd Par 4 with overhanging tree branches on the LH side and trees RH side. So use that 15-20 yard draw tee shot down the RH side and the center cut is all yours. Both #13 453yd and #14 419yd are straight away Par 4's that have you hitting for the fences till it gets in the hole. Numbers #17 437yd and #18 419yd Par 4's both have small elevated greens to protect them from your 2nd shots. Not a nice way to finish if you're trying to Par out to save that final score. I ended up shooting 42/46 with 36 putts and five (5) O.B.'s with Mark P taking honors at 46/39 having 30 putts and no O.B.'s Looking forward to returning and playing in better weather and trying the semi-private, 1925 designed, Heather Downs Country Club across the street.
